Application and Entry Process at a Glance

Form 1

The vast majority of pupils will join SeNgoda at the age of 13.

Entry at 13

It is assumed that most applicants for Form 1 enter at age 13. Ordinarily, learners must be registered by the second half of their Grade 6 year. This is a strict deadline unless you are specifically applying for the highly competitive SeNgoda Star Scholarship (Triple S).

  • The first step is to request for an Application Form, which must be completed and sent back together with a current school completed Application Support Form.
  • Application forms received without current school support will not be processed..
  • Assessment Process
  • The assessment for applicants’ placement consists of a report from the candidate’s current school completed on the Application Support Form, a specially designed form to capture the key elements of an applicant as reported by current school.
  • Assessments for placement take place whenever an applicant’s full application has been received.
  • The Admissions Office will let you know when your child will be invited for a face to face assessment.
  • The child will also write a placement test which is used to isolate the learning potential for the child and point at the necessary tuition interventions.

Post Assessment

  • Successful applicants will be offered a place which is dependent upon their payment of an acceptance fee which is a % of the first term fees. This is non-refundable.
  • Learners who have been accepted are then invited to the school together with their parents for an induction day at a date advised.
  • The induction is a whole afternoon and consists of a school tour and an awareness rendition on the ethos of SeNgoda.
  • Any family who needs financial assistance should indicate on the Application Form. Payment of the acceptance fee will be deferred until the outcome of the bursary is known.
  • Some other applicants are placed on a waiting list on a merit ranking and admitted according to that order when places become available.
    Form 2, 3 and 4

Admission into Form 2, 3 or 4 is dependent upon the following:

    • A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s current school.
    • Satisfactory performance in placement tests in English, Mathematics
    • Further evidence of academic ability and an interview may also be required.

Pupils seeking entry into Form 3 or 4 must have completed the same courses on offer at SeNgoda College in their previous school.

    Lower 6th (Form 5)

Admission into Lower Six is dependent upon:

    • Satisfactory performance at IGCSE (applicants should have a minimum of 5 extended passes, ideally with A grades in the subjects chosen for A Levels)
    • Availability in the subjects selected.
    • A satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s current school
    • Further evidence of academic ability and an interview may also be required.

Once the application has been approved, a non-refundable Acceptance Fee equivalent to one term’s fee is required to secure the place.

A term’s notice must be given in writing if a pupil is to be withdrawn from Sengoda College. This does not apply when a pupil’s continued stay at the school depends on Public Examination results.
